Journey

The purpose of this project is to tell about the Carringer family genealogy.  All of the data sources have not been completely documented, therefore, these databases and reports are not held out to be totally accurate.  You should use the information from this project accordingly.

We will attempt to follow the migration path of the Carringers.  Help us follow them, from what we currently believe was their origin, to America and across a new frontier to earn the precious freedom we often take for granted today.

We currently believe that the Carringer name shares Roots with many similar spellings, but we have not made verified links among the all the families.  In Germany, the name was spelled Kercher or Kärcher.  It seems most likely that the family origins were in the Black Forest area, near Stuttgart, Germany.  Like many of the German families who left their homeland for America, these too, were most likely Lutherans in pursuit of religious freedom.  After coming to America, through Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, some of the family migrated to North Carolina while others remained in Pennsylvania.

The pages are a culmination of the work of many family members who have pulled together the family connections.  Too many to recount, have contributed to the collection of the data in these reports. There is no copyrighted information in these reports. Everything in these reports is based upon facts that are in public records, and therefore, belongs to everyone.

The collection of reports on the Internet have not been adequately documented for true publication. There may exist inconsistencies and errors that I have introduced, . . . for this, I apologize.  Please feel free to send me any corrections so that they may be incorporated into the collection, reproduced and shared with the rest of the family.

Much of the family's early years will be peppered with speculation due to lack of perfect documentation.   Bear with our facts and dreams;  and, if you find more information, let us know, we will embrace and display it.  The idea here is to provoke your interest in our heritage enough to bring you into the the journey so that together we can turn some of our dreams into better documented facts.
